Gentrification on Soi 42.

While the last patient waits in a green plastic chair, a ghostly attendant sweeps up.

Note the green bottle of Chang, bottom left.

When I took the photo, I assumed that a family left a framed imageof their daughter, who died young (hence the tagging).

In fact, the image is of a famous Thai mor lam singer.

The image -- icon, really -- was placed at Wat Khun Muang Ja, a "broken" wat that had become a magnet for popular devotions, before the authorities rehabilitated it with pathways and signage, and made it dull.

Back pain, lancing through everything.

Taken through the front window of the shop, hence the reflections.
