I was outside in the dark, captivated by the four-square geometry, the lavender shadows and pink highlights, and the dirty window.

And somehow she spotted me, introducing human variation into the grid. (Normally, I deprecate "family of man"-type photographs, especially when taken by parachuted-in outsiders, but here, her gesture says so clearly that "I am the subject, and I know I'm the subject," I'll allow it.)

The pink straw is a bonus.
